RipSkirt Hawaii is the active woman’s skirt. If you’re self-conscious and feeling over-exposed in a bathing suit or athletic tights, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.
RipSkirt is a water shedding, quick wrap, all sports cover-up that multi-tasks as the ideal summer skirt. I put everything I wanted but couldn’t find in my skirts. Water resistant fabric that doesn’t leave you with wet bum marks, an interior cash/card flat pocket, quick wrap closures and a fabric that is lightweight and dries quickly if soaked.
Most importantly the fabric is not clingy. It is the ideal beach, vacation and summer accessory. Take it on a cruise, to a resort or wear it year round over your yoga pants.
Because good or bad, sometimes you just need a little coverage.
Picking your RipSkirt size
Each RipSkirt is adjustable by about 2.5 inches so you can wear it at your true waist or just above your hip bones. For sizing purposes we used real women and had them wear it at the the most popular spot which is resting just barely above the hipbones.
If you think you are between sizes I suggest to size up if you are more “apple” shaped and true to size if more “pear” shaped.
The length of the skirt is measured from the top edge of the waistband to the bottom front edge of the skirt. The fabric has stretch and a nice drape but is not clingy. On your standard person, for each size, the skirt is built to cover the saddlebags and general cellulite area but be far enough above the knee to be modern and flattering. Length is measured from the top of the waistband in the back to bottom of the hem.
Size XS – fits your average size 00-2. Waist circumference at top of waistband is approx 27.75 (skirt is meant to sit below true waist) Length for Original Skirt is 15″ and for Ripskirt 2 is 18.5″
Size S – fits average size 4-6. Waist circumference at top of waistband is approx 29.75 (skirt is meant to sit below true waist) Length for Original Skirt is 15.75″ and for Ripskirt 2 is 19.25″
Size M – fits average size 8-10. Waist circumference at top of waistband is approx 32.25 (skirt is meant to sit below true waist) Length for Original Skirt is 16.25″ and for Ripskirt 2 is 19.75″
Size L – fits average size 12-14. Waist circumference at top of waistband 34.75 (skirt is meant to sit below true waist) Length for Original Skirt is 16.75″ and for Ripskirt 2 is 19.75″

The RipSkirt Story
Truth be told I have had a life-long desire to cover my bum and thighs when getting out of the water. I’m a mom of three and our family is passionate about water sports. Like many women, I just didn’t want so much “rear” exposure when hanging out around the beach or pool.
When the kids were toddlers, I wanted something quickly to cover up when I ran them from the water to a cafe or the bathroom past a cadre of co-workers at the summer party.
As the kids grew older and we started kiting and surfing, I just wanted something to wear that wouldn’t soak through when I made a stop on the way home from the beach. I needed something that stayed dry and didn’t look like I sat on a wet seat.
I decided to start making my own cover-up and reached out to girlfriends who also liked to cover their bums. It turned out they had an interest in a product like this. I couldn’t find exactly what I envisioned on the market but I had a skirt that was 20 yrs old with a Velcro closure and I started with that as a template and RipSkirt was born. My friends and daughter helped me with my logo, the sizing, and the colors. My husband was a big help, too. He had the tough task of telling me which fabrics looked too clingy and which pleat design was most “flattering”.
The result was RipSkirt, a water-repellant wrap cover-up with no snaps or zippers, only adjustable Velcro tabs. You rip it off to change. The Velcro makes it easy to adjust where it sits on your waist, and you are able to let it out a pinch after a big meal. Perfect for those vacation lunches by the pool! It’s made out of a water-repellant, modern board short material with just enough stretch to give but not to cling, and it quickly covers your bum and thighs without soaking up water.
We are happy with the results and hope you are, too. RipSkirt actually turned out to be so cute and universal that the response we get is that most women wear their RipSkirt as a daily summer skirt and not just a poolside cover-up!
